Summer Reading 2011
Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story

Carson was raised in inner-city Detroit by a mother with a third-grade education. Ben lacked motivation and had terrible grades, but he had a strong mother who made sure her children understood the importance of education. She convinced her son that he could make something of his life, even though everything around him said otherwise.

Gifted Hands is the riveting story of one man's secret for success, tested against daunting odds. Through sheer determination and a relentless belief in his own capabilities, Dr. Ben Carson became director of pediatric neurosurgery at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. This is truely an inspiring book that shows what one can accomplish if they believe they can
